Senior QA Engineer (Automation)

Location: Remote / This role will only consider candidates in Japan, Malaysia, or Vietnam.

Role summary We are looking for a QA engineer whose primary focus is test automation. This role is responsible for building and maintaining automated test coverage across our SaaS platform, working alongside QA engineers who own manual testing and test case design. You will spend most of your time writing test code, improving reliability in CI, and helping the team move toward faster, safer releases. This is not a manual-testing-heavy role.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks (API, integration, and UI where it makes sense)
• Own automated test execution in CI/CD pipelines
• Reduce flaky tests and improve test reliability and runtime
• Work with QA peers who define test cases and scenarios, translating them into automation
• Partner with engineers to improve testability of the product
• Help define what should be automated vs what should remain manual
• Track automation coverage and gaps over time
• Raise quality issues early, with clear evidence

What you won’t be doing Owning large volumes of manual test execution Acting as release gatekeeper without data Writing automation for unstable or poorly scoped tests without pushback

What we’re looking for 4+ years in QA or test engineering, with strong automation focus Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar) Solid programming skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python Experience testing APIs and backend systems, not just UI Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines Experience in SaaS or complex web applications Strong judgment on where automation adds value and where it doesn’t

Nice to have Experience stabilizing flaky pipelines Performance or load testing exposure Experience working with distributed teams Familiarity with cloud-based test environments
