Job Description
How will you make a difference?
The “Validation Engineer – Testing” is responsible for developing test strategies, systems, and documentation for GE/Wabtec Train Performance products to ensure compliance to all standards, system requirements, and customer requirements. In this role, you will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and targeted company objectives.
What will your typical day look like?
Develop test strategies to maximize Validation Team potential and efficiency. Drive execution of manual and automated testing to provide evidence of completed Test Plan. Drive execution of manual and automated testing to provide evidence of requirements coverage and traceability. Investigate and thoroughly communicate software defects. Hold design reviews for test planning and reporting. Work with global teams to define global standards and achieve local goals. Mentor cross functional team members.
What do we want to know about you?
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) 2-4 years experience in an embedded software testing environment. Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure system functional and interface requirements are met.
Desired Characteristics
Strong knowledge of validation test execution, requirements traceability, defect reporting, and automation concepts. Strong C, C++ and/or Visual Basic development and software architecture skills. Experience creating automated applications using NI-LabVIEW Demonstrated initiative, drive, communication, & interpersonal skills Experience in controls and software processes for Freight Rail applications Experience with Agile development principles Experience in Agile software development environments including Scrum or Kanban. Experience with software configuration management tools such as SVN or GIT. Freight Locomotive control Software Embedded Software Testing. Proven track record of technical contribution Ability to influence team and technical decisions Strong communication skills including the ability to present to customers and Wabtec Executives in a clear and concise manner Expertise in engineering methodologies and tools Previous experience leading teams, either in a direct or matrixed environment

The salary rate for this role is currently $60700-83400 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
