What will you be doing?

A Power BI QA Developer is a quality assurance professional who tests Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure accuracy, performance, and security. Their duties include validating data accuracy, checking that interactive features like filters work correctly, and performing functional, security, and user interface testing to ensure the final product meets business requirements and is easy for end-users to understand and operate.

Job Responsibilities

Test case development: Create and execute test cases for Power BI reports, including data accuracy, functionality, and performance.

Data validation: Compare data in Power BI reports against the source to ensure it is accurate and consistent.

Functional testing: Verify that all interactive elements, such as filters, slicers, and drill-throughs, function as intended.

Performance testing: Evaluate the speed and efficiency of reports and dashboards under various conditions.

Security testing: Ensure that data access controls and user permissions are correctly implemented and prevent unauthorized access.

User Interface (UI) and user experience (UX) testing: Check for proper formatting, alignment, and overall usability of the reports and dashboards.

Cross-browser and cross-platform testing: Ensure reports display correctly on different browsers and devices.

Troubleshooting: Identify, document, and help resolve bugs and issues found during testing.

Collaboration: Work with Power BI developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and provide feedback.

Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for test plans, test cases, and defect tracking.

Required Skills

Proficiency with Power BI Desktop and its various features. Understanding of data modeling, DAX, and Power Query. Knowledge of SQL for data verification and validation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with testing methodologies and bug tracking tools. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Attention to detail.
