Data Quality Assurance Analyst

Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Data Quality Assurance Analyst to join our client's Data & BI team and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of enterprise business intelligence reports and dashboards. This position will be deeply embedded in the BI development lifecycle-from project initiation through post-deployment-and will require strong SQL skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely with BI developers and data engineers. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, thrives on validating complex datasets, and enjoys working "in the weeds" to uncover data discrepancies before they reach production.
Key Responsibilities
Validate and test Power BI reports and dashboards for data accuracy, performance, and consistency. Review business requirements and data context to design comprehensive test cases and validation plans. Perform detailed, SQL-based data checks to confirm data integrity across large and complex datasets. Conduct line-by-line data verification, apply filters, and confirm report behaviors match requirements. Document and communicate findings, discrepancies, and test outcomes in a clear and structured format. Collaborate with BI developers and data engineers to resolve issues and refine data pipelines. Re-execute test cases following report updates, data changes, or environment refreshes. Support automation testing within BI environments where applicable. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve BI report usability and performance.
Requirements
Proficiency in SQL ability to query, validate, and compare large datasets. Experience in QA for data or BI environments (not application QA). Strong understanding of Power BI and data visualization principles. Ability to navigate and validate complex data models. Highly detail-oriented and comfortable performing hands-on validation work. Experience with automation testing in data or BI environments. Familiarity with data QA in manufacturing or industrial domains is a plus. Exposure to test case management tools and Agile workflows. Proven collaboration with BI and data engineering teams in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
