The Role We’re looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join our Melbourne team. This is a hands-on role focused on designing, building, and maintaining automated test solutions across complex applications, while working closely with developers, product owners, and delivery teams in agile environments.

This role suits someone who is technically strong, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of automation outcomes while helping uplift testing maturity across teams.

Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks across UI and API layers Identify high-value functional tests for automation and drive automation-first thinking Contribute to framework uplift, test scripting standards, and automation best practices Execute and maintain automated regression suites to support frequent releases Validate APIs and backend services using REST-based testing Work within CI/CD and Continuous Testing environments to support release confidence Collaborate with developers, testers, and DevOps engineers to resolve defects and quality issues Provide clear test reporting, defect management, and quality metrics to stakeholders Mentor junior testers and contribute to team capability uplift

Skills & Experience (Required) 6+ years’ experience in software testing with a strong test automation focus Strong hands-on experience in UI and API automation

Proven experience with automation tools such as

• Selenium
• REST Assured (or equivalent API automation tools)
• Strong programming/scripting skills in Java (JavaScript experience is desirable)
• Experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks
• Strong understanding of Agile ways of working and modern SDLC practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Tools / Technical Capability (Highly Regarded) Experience with modern test frameworks and automation design patterns Working with JSON / XML, validating payloads, and consuming REST APIs Experience in CI/CD pipelines and Continuous Testing environments Exposure to cloud-native or enterprise-scale platforms Experience with Azure DevOps (boards, repos, pipelines, test management) Experience working in high-traffic or complex customer-facing systems
