The QA Lead Engineer is a hands-on quality expert focused on both manual and automated testing across multiple concurrent projects—including core products, plugins, and toolchains. This role provides technical guidance and support to QA engineers, helping ensure consistent testing practices and high-quality releases. The QA Lead is actively involved from the preparation and planning phase, through execution, and continues until the final release phase, ensuring quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Lead manual and automated testing efforts across diverse projects Provide technical guidance to QA engineers in test design, execution, and defect analysis Perform root cause analysis and support bugfix validation Triage defects and collaborate with developers to ensure timely resolution Develop and maintain automated test frameworks integrated with CI/CD pipelines Perform exploratory, regression, usability, and acceptance testing Execute performance and scalability tests to validate system reliability under load Contribute to QA activities across product, plugin, and toolchain testing tracks Collaborate with development, product, and DevOps teams to ensure test coverage and release readiness Participate in planning, execution, and release phases of each project Deliver accurate time and effort estimates for assigned QA tasks Track and report quality metrics, coverage, and defect trends Required Qualifications: Strong experience in manual and automated software testing Proven ability to guide and support QA engineers technically Expertise in automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Selenium, Cypress) Skilled in scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, TypeScript) Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, k6) Experience with CI/CD systems and version control (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Git) Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies Strong analytical and communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cloud platforms and containerized environments (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) ISTQB or equivalent certification Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, New Relic) Background in performance, scalability, or security testing Life at PTC is about more than working with today’s most cutting-edge technologies to transform the physical world.
