Role & seniority: Automation Tester (mid–senior level) for a large Agile Scrum program

Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts across front-end, back-end, and API layers
Identify high-value automation targets with stakeholders; contribute to test frameworks; ensure coverage and impact
Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines; document results; perform manual exploratory testing where automation is not yet implemented
Experience with Selenium, Playwright, and Postman
Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#
Knowledge of Agile/DevOps practices and version control (Git)
Strong analytical/problem-solving abilities; ability to work in an Agile Scrum team
Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain baseline security clearance
Prior experience with government departments

Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seeking an Automation Tester with experience in Selenium, Postman and Playwright. This is a long-term contract with the initial contract upto June 2026 plus 3*12 month extensions. The opportunity offers a potential start in March 2026. The role is based in Canberra, remote and hybrid options will be considered.
Overview
Our client are looking for an experienced Automation Tester to work in an Agile Scrum Team as part of a large program of work with responsible for optimising testing efforts to ensure quality assurance and excellence.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Selenium or Playwright. Collaborate with developers, test analysts, and stakeholders to identify and prioritise high-value test scenarios for automation, ensuring maximum coverage and impact Contribute and implement test frameworks for front-end, back-end, and API testing. Execute automated test cases and analyze results to identify bugs and performance issues. Integrate tests into Cl/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub and/or Azure DevOps. Document test results and provide feedback to development teams. Contribute effectively within a Agile Scrum Team Perform manual exploratory testing for new features and regression scenarios where automation is not yet implemented
Technical Skills
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Typescript or C#. Experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Postman, Playwright). Understanding of software development methodologies, especially Agile and DevOps. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
Experience in Government Departments would be highly regarded. The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen with an ability to obtain baseline clearance.
