Role & seniority: QA Inspector, Level I/Level II, aerospace quality control. 1st Shift Weekend (Fri–Sun, 12-hour shifts with 40-hour pay, $1/hr weekend differential).

Stack/tools: Precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, depth mics, protractors), blueprints/mylars, check fixtures/templates, shop charts, Engineering Orders, SPCOs, Drawing Change Notices, Rockwell hardness testing, conductivity testing, CMM/Net-Inspect, FAI forms, part marking equipment.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Perform first article, in-process, and finished part inspections to verify conformance to customer specs; maintain quality documentation.

  • Read and interpret customer/internal docs, approve/validate inspection data, input FAI data, and generate Certificates of Conformance.

  • Level II: review and interpret complex docs, approve Level I outputs, train Level I inspectors, and oversee lead tasks or special assignments.

Must-have skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; mechanical aptitude; demonstrated mathematical ability; ability to read technical documents.

  • Aerospace machining/inspector experience (minimum 1 year; Level II requires ~3 years).

  • Blueprint reading, use of standard inspection tools, ability to interpret manufacturing planning and shop data.

  • Certification in at least one operation (Rockwell, conductivity, weld) or ability to obtain.

JOB TITLE: QA INSPECTOR

1st Shift Weekends (This shift will consist of working 12 hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but receive pay for 40 hours - a shift differential of $1/hr. will be paid for those working the weekend shift).

OBJECTIVE: Performs first article, in-process and finished part inspection of machined, fabricated and assembled aerospace parts, maintains quality documentation, and performs related tasks to ensure customer quality standards have been met in the manufacture and processing of customer parts

SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS AND AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending and stretching Lifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistance Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust Constant repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms

Level I

Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by All Job Levels

Precision measuring equipment (PME), i.e., micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, protractors, etc. Blueprints, mylars and check fixtures/templates Shop charts, shop sketches and other supporting documents (Engineering Orders, SPCO’s, Drawing Change Notices) Rockwell hardness and conductivity testing

Typical Job Requirements

Reads customer blueprints and checks parts for conformance with customer specifications using standard inspection procedures Uses gauges and certified tools as required Follows instructions from manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructions Learns one or more certified inspection operations and passes certification exam (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,) Understands and follows hazardous waste disposal requirements Demonstrates good communication and self-management skills Knows how to input FAI data into FAI forms Performs end of line activities including Certificate of Conformances Scans work orders from various departments and areas Knows how to operate a part mark machine

Education & Experience

High School graduate or equivalent Mechanical aptitude and good work ethic Minimum one-year work experience in aerospace machining environment, preferably as a machinist or inspector Demonstrated mathematical ability Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical documents Temper inspector must receive Rockwell and conductivity training and pass certification exam

Level II

Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by Job Level

Performs all major activities identified in Level I Uses all tools and machines indicated in Level I Reviews and interprets technical customer, supplier and internal documentation for application in the inspection process Demonstrated ability to review CMM Reports and interpret them with little assistance Demonstrated ability to bench inspect features to correlate CMM results on most part configurations Performs all quality inspection functions at a senior level Provides guidance to Level I Inspectors as required

Typical Job Requirements

Performs all requirements of Level I Fully competent in the understanding and interpretation of manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructions Reviews and approves first article paperwork prepared by Level I Inspectors Reviews manufacturing documents including customer purchase orders, materials and processing documentation, engineering specifications and is able to extract and apply information to the current job or work order without assistance Advanced blueprint reading capabilities Trains Level I Inspector in Level II tasks

Performs special assignments (example: tooling acceptance or 1st part conformity) Maintains certification in one or more certified inspection operations (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,) Performs multifunctional operations and is cross-trained in multiple inspection functions Performs as a lead person if required Demonstrates high efficiency in daily activities Understands and can navigate in Net-Inspect to upload FAI information

Education & Experience

Possesses all Education and Experience credentials as Level I with the following additions

Minimum of three years of work experience as a Quality Inspector in a machining or assembly aerospace manufacturing facility Has received specialized training in blueprint, math, communication or other applicable training Demonstrates good computer skills (Excel and Word) Ability to work in NWI manufacturing software
