Role & seniority: QA Inspector, Level I (entry) with progression to Level II (senior/lead). Aerospace manufacturing background preferred.

Stack/tools: Precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, protractors), blueprints/mylars, check fixtures, Rockwell hardness testing, conductivity testing, FAI data entry, Net-Inspect (FAI uploads), CMM interpretation (Level II).

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Conduct first article, in-process, and finished-part inspections to verify conformance to customer specs.

  • Maintain quality documentation, input FAI data, review/approve first article paperwork and related manufacturing documentation.

  • Interpret blueprints and customer/spec documents, operate gauges/tools, support root-cause/training activities and, at Level II, lead Level I tasks.

Must-have skills

  • 5+ years of basic bench inspection experience in aerospace; high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read blueprints, use gauges, perform mathematical analysis, and follow inspection procedures.

  • Certification readiness: Rockwell and conductivity training (or certified), proficiency with Excel/Word, and ability to navigate Net-Inspect.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to train/lead Level I inspectors.

  • Level II certifications, CMM data interpretation, tooling acceptance, and cross-functional inspection skills.

  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing software and first article processes.

This position REQUIRES 5 years of basic bench inspection experience. Leadership experience desired but not required

2nd Shift: 4x10's Monday - Thursday

JOB TITLE: QA INSPECTOR

OBJECTIVE: Performs first article, in-process and finished part inspection of machined, fabricated and assembled aerospace parts, maintains quality documentation, and performs related tasks to ensure customer quality standards have been met in the manufacture and processing of customer parts

SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONS AND AMERICANS WITH DISABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending and stretching Lifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistance Constant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dust Constant repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms

Level I

Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by All Job Levels

Precision measuring equipment (PME), i.e., micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, protractors, etc. Blueprints, mylars and check fixtures/templates Shop charts, shop sketches and other supporting documents (Engineering Orders, SPCO’s, Drawing Change Notices) Rockwell hardness and conductivity testing

Typical Job Requirements

Reads customer blueprints and checks parts for conformance with customer specifications using standard inspection procedures Uses gauges and certified tools as required Follows instructions from manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructions Learns one or more certified inspection operations and passes certification exam (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,) Understands and follows hazardous waste disposal requirements Demonstrates good communication and self-management skills Knows how to input FAI data into FAI forms Performs end of line activities including Certificate of Conformances Scans work orders from various departments and areas Knows how to operate a part mark machine

Education & Experience

High School graduate or equivalent Mechanical aptitude and good work ethic Minimum one-year work experience in aerospace machining environment, preferably as a machinist or inspector Demonstrated mathematical ability Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical documents Temper inspector must receive Rockwell and conductivity training and pass certification exam

Level II

Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by Job Level

Performs all major activities identified in Level I Uses all tools and machines indicated in Level I Reviews and interprets technical customer, supplier and internal documentation for application in the inspection process Demonstrated ability to review CMM Reports and interpret them with little assistance Demonstrated ability to bench inspect features to correlate CMM results on most part configurations Performs all quality inspection functions at a senior level Provides guidance to Level I Inspectors as required

Typical Job Requirements

Performs all requirements of Level I Fully competent in the understanding and interpretation of manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructions Reviews and approves first article paperwork prepared by Level I Inspectors Reviews manufacturing documents including customer purchase orders, materials and processing documentation, engineering specifications and is able to extract and apply information to the current job or work order without assistance Advanced blueprint reading capabilities Trains Level I Inspector in Level II tasks

Performs special assignments (example: tooling acceptance or 1st part conformity) Maintains certification in one or more certified inspection operations (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,) Performs multifunctional operations and is cross-trained in multiple inspection functions Performs as a lead person if required Demonstrates high efficiency in daily activities Understands and can navigate in Net-Inspect to upload FAI information

Education & Experience

Possesses all Education and Experience credentials as Level I with the following additions

Minimum of three years of work experience as a Quality Inspector in a machining or assembly aerospace manufacturing facility Has received specialized training in blueprint, math, communication or other applicable training Demonstrates good computer skills (Excel and Word) Ability to work in NWI manufacturing software

General Duties and Responsibilities for both Level I and Level II
