QA Tester Contract, Hybrid, 2 days per week in office, City Centre

About the Position Our client have an immediate requirement for a QA tester to join for an initial 12 month period.

The responsibilities outlined below reflect the current scope of the role and may evolve in line with organisational and departmental requirements. The QA Tester will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of systems delivered by internal teams and third-party vendors. Flexibility around working hours may be required during periods of peak activity to support business delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and execute testing activities for new and existing system functionality, including

• Functional testing
• Regression testing
• Data validation
• System integration testing
• Load and performance testing
• Collaborate closely with third-party vendor development and QA teams to design effective testing strategies and embed testing within the development lifecycle.
• Plan, create, and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) in partnership with business stakeholders, vendor teams, and other key contributors.
• Document, analyse, and report on test results, providing clear recommendations for corrective action where required.
• Identify, log, track, and manage defects through to resolution, ensuring fixes are verified and test cases are maintained.
• Support UAT activities carried out by business users and stakeholders.
• Conduct exploratory testing and risk analysis, particularly for complex features spanning multiple systems, platforms, or teams.
• Share knowledge and collaborate with other UAT or QA leads, including participation in communities of practice where appropriate.
• Review third-party vendor test plans and results to ensure adequate test coverage and adherence to quality standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, including the automation of repeatable test scenarios.
• Apply automated testing approaches such as model-based testing or record-and-replay techniques where suitable.
• Carry out other related duties as required by senior IT management.

The Person Knowledge & Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with internal teams and external partners. Experience working within a multi-vendor ICT environment. A strong commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and best practice. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines and milestones. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify, isolate, and clearly document issues.
