Job Summary
UWG is seeking a highly motivated, student-centered individual to join our team. The Accessibility and Testing Specialist provides direct support to individuals with accessibility needs as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Conducts intake interviews, eligibility analysis, referrals, approves reasonable accommodations, supervising accommodated tests, coordinating test times/dates with faculty, converting tests to accessible formats (if necessary), and connects individuals with services to support their personal and academic goals. Assists with educating campus constituents regarding accommodation support and facilitates compliance with ADA/ADAA. This position also assists with compliance with related federal, state, local, and University policies. Supervises graduate assistant(s) and student leader(s).
Responsibilities

Perform intake interviews to gain a foundational understanding of individual needs, evaluate information from medical and/or psychological professionals to determine eligibility, make referrals and/or consults with diagnosticians as needed; works with individuals to determine reasonable accommodations needed for academic, professional, or personal success; educates students, families, faculty, and staff on appropriate services for and communication with individuals seeking accommodations; compiles and distributes the necessary documentation to verify the need for accommodations; assist individuals with solving obstacles to accommodation needs; interfaces with campus constituencies to ensure individuals gain equitable access to resources; increases campus understanding of issues affecting individuals with disabilities by delivering presentations, trainings, and workshops related to research and best practices; records interactions with individuals and analyzes the effectiveness of accommodations to be communicated through reporting, compliance, and program efficacy; maintains the confidentiality of university and student records, as applicable; stays current on knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, laws, regulations, standards and systems related to accessibility service

Administering tests with accommodations to students; Scheduling tests and contacting faculty regarding test appointments; Receiving tests and converting to alternative format if needed; Proctoring tests which includes checking students in and ensuring they do not have access to inappropriate information; Completing test proctoring forms; Returning tests back to faculty; Oversee and/or assist with producing course material/lecture material in alternative formats for students with disabilities; ability to manipulate specialized software; Includes overseeing transcription of notes for students with disabilities and reviewing and forwarding notes to the students in a timely fashion; Reformatting class materials and textbooks; Scanning in and converting documents to text compatible for assistive technology, including but not limited to, screen readers; Familiarity with JAWS, Zoomtext, Kurzweil, Glean, and other emerging assistive technology software a must; Ability to assist with administration of independent study tests, institutional tests and national standardized tests; Be knowledgeable of all procedures and administer all tests as mandated; Ensure that test security and academic standards and integrity are maintained at all times.
