Top 3 responsibilities

Ensure AS9115 and related standards compliance across software lifecycle (planning, development, verification, configuration management, release); maintain traceability

Review and approve software lifecycle artifacts (requirements, design, code, test, release); validate test plans/procedures/scripts/results; provide release readiness and quality sign-off

Conduct supplier/subcontractor oversight and audits (planning, execution, findings, corrective actions); assess supplier process maturity and compliance to AS9115/AS9100

Duties
We are currently seeking a Software Quality Engineer to support our customer in Tucson, AZ. The ideal candidate will be able to perform the following duties, as well as possess the following education and experience
Software Quality Assurance (AS9100 & AS9115)
Review software lifecycle documentation (requirements, design, code, test, release) for compliance with AS9100, AS9115, DO‑178C/DO‑254 (as applicable), and customer specifications. Verify SQPs, SDPs, and SVPs conform to AS9115. Ensure bidirectional traceability per AS9115. Participate in Agile ceremonies as the quality representative. Assist in the development of company and program policies and process documents
Process Oversight and Compliance
Validate adherence to AS9115 lifecycle expectations for planning, development, verification, configuration management, and release. Confirm use of approved software tools and repositories. Ensure compliance with coding standards, secure coding practices, and automated test requirements. Support audits and provide objective evidence aligned to AS9115 clauses.
Verification and Validation Support
Review test plans, procedures, scripts, and results for completeness and compliance. Identify verification gaps and recommend corrective actions. Evaluate verification coverage. Provide release readiness and quality sign-off.
Supplier and Subcontractor Oversight
Review supplier software deliverables and lifecycle documentation. Evaluate supplier process maturity and compliance to AS9115/AS9100. Participate in supplier reviews and quality gates.
Supplier and Subcontractor Audits (AS9115-Focused)
Plan, prepare, and execute supplier audits. Evaluate supplier software development, verification, CM, and release processes.
Assess compliance to AS9115 clause requirements including
- Software development planning
- Traceability management
- Verification/validation
- Configuration management
- Tool control
- COTS/MOTS/SOUP software
- Issue audit reports with findings and corrective actions.
- Track closure and verify effectiveness.
- Risk Management
Identify and track software quality risks. Maintain risk registers. Support RCCA and mitigation planning. Reporting & Metrics
Provide weekly status reports (hours, tasks, risks). Develop and maintain quality metrics dashboards. Support monthly program reviews. Software lifecycle review reports AS9115 compliance assessments Supplier audit plans and reports Corrective action verification packages Verification coverage assessments Weekly status reports Analytics and trend analysis
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
Required Experience
5-10+ years software quality engineering experience. Working knowledge of AS9115, AS9100, and software compliance frameworks. Experience conducting software-focused supplier audits. Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, and secure coding. Familiarity with DO-178B/DO-178C or other safety critical software development guidelines. Strong documentation and communication skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
