Full Description

Telecommunication technologies are evolving at a staggering pace. Being among the first on the market to deliver leading‑edge test and validation solutions for the Manufacturing, Lab and Research (MDR) segment is the challenge EXFO has set for itself. In this context, the R&D team of this division is expanding and is seeking a QA Analyst to ensure the quality of its cutting‑edge equipment.

Job Summary

Your primary responsibility as a QA Analyst will be to perform testing on our test products designed for manufacturing, design, and research (MDR) environments.

Responsibilities

Test Strategy and Planning

Work closely with development teams, system engineers and product managers to understand current and future needs. Understand industry standards (e.g., IEEE 802.3) that define many of the functional requirements. Define and implement test strategies even when optimal validation equipment is not yet available (our products are sometimes the first to support new technologies). Clearly document test scenarios, test cases and acceptance criteria. Advise HW and SW teams on testing best practices and on integrating quality into the development lifecycle.

Test Execution

Perform functional, exploratory, performance or other types of testing as required. Identify corner cases and ensure the products behave correctly under these conditions. Actively participate in the validation cycle prior to internal or external releases.

Tools and Automation

Recommend and deploy appropriate testing tools. Contribute to the development or improvement of automated scripts/tests. Ensure tests are integrated into continuous validation processes when possible.

Quality Maintenance

Maintain clear and up‑to‑date test documentation. Track and analyze quality metrics to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of quality assurance concepts, principles, and methodologies. Ability to understand the different layers of Ethernet networks (optical interfaces, electrical interfaces, protocols). Ability to design and execute comprehensive and effective test strategies. Hands‑on experience with network equipment. Knowledge of standards such as IEEE 802.3dj, OIF CEI‑224G and CMIS (an asset). Knowledge of automation tools (an asset).

Aptitudes

Autonomy, resourcefulness, and initiative. Flexibility, given that our products are developed in parallel with evolving industry standards. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Fast learner. Strong interest in solving complex problems and exploring new technologies.

Requirements

Experience: 5 years in quality assurance within an advanced technology environment.

Languages: French and English (spoken and written).

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Status: Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
