Full Description
We are seeking an SDET-III who will own quality architecture at scale and act as a technical leader across multiple teams or platforms. This role is for someone who designs long-term, sustainable testing systems, influences engineering design decisions, and ensures quality is embedded deeply into how software is built and released.
As an SDET-III, you will operate at a systems level, not just writing tests but designing testability into architecture, defining quality standards, and mentoring engineers across the organisation.
Responsibilities
Design and own end-to-end test architecture for complex, distributed systems. Define testing strategies at service, platform, and ecosystem levels. Influence system designs to improve testability, observability, and resilience. Establish schema validation and backward compatibility strategies. Evaluate and select tools, frameworks, and platforms based on long-term scalability. Build and evolve high-performance automation frameworks (API, backend, UI, and event-driven systems). Ensure automation is fast, reliable, maintainable, and cost-efficient. Drive elimination of test flakiness and test debt. Embed automation deeply into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows. Define and own quality standards, guardrails, and quality gates across teams. Drive shift-left and shift-right quality practices (unit integration E2E production). Use production data, incidents, and customer feedback to continuously evolve test coverage. Lead RCA for critical production issues and drive systemic fixes. Mentor and technically guide SDET-1 SDET-2 and engineers on testing best practices. Partner with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and Security to align quality with business goals. Act as a quality thought leader in architecture and design reviews. Advocate for quality trade-offs using data and risk analysis, not opinion.
Requirements
6+ years of experience in test automation or software engineering. Expert-level programming skills in Java. Deep experience testing microservices, distributed systems, and APIs. Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and failure modes. Proven experience designing automation frameworks from scratch. Hands-on experience with CI/CD, cloud platforms, and containerised environments. Excellent debugging, RCA, and analytical skills.
