Job Title: Motor Test EngineerJob Description
We are seeking an experienced Motor Test Engineer to support our motor validation and UL certification efforts. This role will address a significant backlog of motor testing while developing scalable processes and infrastructure for future testing needs. The ideal candidate will work independently to execute UL test protocols, analyze results, and drive improvements to our dynamometer test systems.
Responsibilities
Independently execute the full suite of UL motor tests, including Rated Load, Pre-Overload, Overload, Locked Rotor, Winding Resistance, Rating, and Dielectric tests. Perform motor characterization testing to establish operational limits through stepped load procedures. Analyze test data to identify anomalies, performance issues, and potential safety hazards. Develop and document a library of test automation scripts and standardized procedures. Drive improvements to existing dynamometer setup, including PID tuning and test fixture optimization. Lead the commissioning and validation of a second dynamometer system. Document test results and maintain accurate records for UL compliance and internal reporting.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in motor control and understanding of UL certification tests. Ability to run motor tests and analyze the results effectively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Engineering. 3+ years of hands-on experience with motor testing. Working knowledge of UL motor test standards and certification requirements.
Work Environment
The role requires working with dynamometer test systems, and involves improving existing setups and commissioning new systems. Attention to detail and documentation skills are essential for maintaining records and ensuring compliance.
