Overview
As a Controls & Automation Engineer based at Lutron’s Virginia Manufacturing Facility, you will play a critical role in expanding our in-house capabilities to meet increasing customer demand.
From day one, you will take ownership of high-impact projects focused on the design and continuous improvement of manufacturing across the shades production process. You’ll evaluate current tooling, software, and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities that enhance safety, quality, and delivery performance, while also designing new tools from the ground up to support process improvements and new product integration.
This role is ideal for a hands-on software-driven engineer with the versatility to integrate electrical and mechanical elements as needed. Your work will directly strengthen our manufacturing capability and help maintain Lutron’s position as the global leader in smart lighting and shading systems.
Responsibilities
Understanding and becoming an expert on the current systems used and how they interact with the products, tooling, production software, and quality systems. Innovating, developing, and utilizing new manufacturing techniques, software, and equipment capable of solving complex problems Engaging and collaborating with new product design teams to develop manufacturing tools and methods to meet the unique needs of the new product launches. Training production engineers and personnel on proper utilization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of new processes and tools to assure their proper care and usage in the production environment. Interacting with a variety of technologies and software, including but not limited to Distributed Cloud Services, Desktop and Web applications, software development tools (C/C++/C#/.NET, SQL, Python, Atlassian Tools, PLC Programing), instrumentation and measurement devices (such as signal generators and meters). Collaborating with peers across the globe to align processes between facilities and establishing the best practices Analyzing, debugging, and optimizing the performance of current manufacturing systems and processes to improve reliability, efficiency, and quality.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned 3+ years of hands-on experience in a related field Electrical and/or software development experience for tooling is preferred Fabrication knowledge and experience is preferred Experience with implementation of automation in manufacturing environment is preferred 3D CAD Modeling, Computer Vision or equivalent experience is a plus Ability to travel up to 10% internationally
