Hi,
Job Title: Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Test Engineer
Location: Mossville, IL (Onsite) Long Term Contract
seeking a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Test Engineer with demonstrated hands-on experience working directly with HIL benches and physical hardware. This role requires more than executing pre-written test scripts; it demands strong hardware-side troubleshooting skills, critical thinking, and the ability to diagnose real-world system issues at the bench. Candidates must be comfortable working in-person with HIL systems, sensors, wiring, and instrumentation. Experience limited to remote access or script-only testing will not meet the expectations of this role.
Key Responsibilities Perform hands-on operation of HIL benches, including setup, configuration, and maintenance of physical hardware Troubleshoot hardware and signal-level issues such as open circuits, sensor faults, wiring problems, and signal integrity issues Analyze unexpected test results and independently determine root causes rather than relying solely on predefined test plans Collaborate with controls, software, and systems engineers to resolve integration and hardware-related issues Execute and, when necessary, adapt or improve test procedures based on real-time observations at the bench Document findings clearly, including hardware failures, corrective actions, and lessons learned
Required Qualifications Proven hands-on, physical HIL experience (not limited to remote bench access or script execution) Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, sensors, I/O, and signal troubleshooting Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems beyond following step-by-step instructions Experience diagnosing hardware issues such as disconnected signals, faulty sensors, and unexpected system behavior Comfortable working directly with test equipment, wiring, and HIL hardware components
