Must-have Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent military experience)

  • 1+ year in supplier quality, quality engineering, or process engineering in manufacturing

  • Ability to read blueprints/specifications, GD&T; knowledge of AS9100, APQP, CAPA; experience with quality audits

  • ITAR awareness (US person per ITAR), eligible to work in the US without sponsorship; familiarity with continuous improvement tools

Nice-to-haves

  • AS9100 Auditor certification

  • 3+ years in quality/engineering in manufacturing; aerospace supplier experience

Full Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer works with suppliers to monitor the effectiveness of their Quality Management System and partners with key stakeholders such as Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to continuously improve supplier performance (increase lifecycle, reduce scrap, improve manufacturing/repair processes). This position requires special knowledge and skills that would enable the SQE to drive major Quality improvement projects across functions with minimum supervision. To ensure receipt of defect free products. Performs all tasks in area of responsibility in a timely manner to support the supplier quality/inspection system. Ensures all aspects of the delivered/finished article is manufactured in accordance with approved quality system requirements and is certified as compliant to contractual requirements. Manages the compliance of supplier performance through the application of system, product, and process audits in accordance with company policy, federal regulations, industry specifications, and as applicable customer contractual flow downs. Certifies a supplier or assesses supplier quality system, personnel, processes, and equipment as required. to the applicable quality standards. Identifying opportunities for process and product improvements. Responsible for driving the Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) process for assigned Suppliers. Drives closed loop corrective action process and ensures timeliness, effectiveness, and sustainability of supplier CA plans. Leads quality focus meetings to address supplier performance and to communicate progress to senior leadership. Communicates highly complicated process or issues in a concise manner to be able to drive collaboration and corrective action. Promotes the use of continuous improvement techniques and Advancded Part Quality Planning(APQP) principles at Suppliers to help them reduce variability and achieve process control. Improve product quality by ensuring proper inspection and drawing requirements are communicated, understood and deliverable. Utilize supplier quality data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. Participate as required in floor stand up meetings to gain first-hand knowledge of supplier issues and their impact on manufacturing. Provide timely investigations into supplier quality issues. Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution OR Equivalent Military Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in supplier quality engineering,quality engineering or process engineering, within a manufacturing environment. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee or Refugee. All candidates must be elligible to work in the US without company sponsorship, now and in the future. Relocation is not provided. 3 years quality or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with a basic knowledge of blueprint reading, statistical methods, problem solving, industry quality standards and continuous improvement tools. Ability to read and understand blue prints, specifications, and requirements. Knowledge of AS9100, APQP, CAPA Experience in performing Quality Audits Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Experience with Aerospace Suppliers Experience with Special Process Suppliers (Heat Treating, Plating, Painting, Non-destructive Testing) Certified AS9100 Auditor
