R&D Hardware Test Engineer

📍 Location: Durham NC 🕒 9 Months contract with Possible Extension

Our client is looking for an R&D Hardware Test Engineer to design and implement automated electro-mechanical test systems that accelerate product development, improve reliability, and expand lab testing capabilities. This role emphasizes LabVIEW programming, automated data acquisition, test fixture development, and electro-mechanical test design. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test strategies, enhance Product Qualification Plans (PQPs), and ensure robust verification and validation of complex pharmacy automation devices.

Key Responsibilities Design automated test systems, fixtures, and workflows in LabVIEW to support verification, validation, and reliability testing. Develop DAQ systems, automation scripts, and benchmark programs to reduce downtime and improve efficiency. Partner with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to create robust test plans and execute verification/validation activities. Analyze performance data, reliability results, and failure modes to guide engineering decisions. Support lab infrastructure by increasing throughput, reducing downtime, and commissioning new test hardware.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field; Master’s degree a plus. Hands-on experience with verification/validation testing and automated test systems. Strong LabVIEW programming background; experience with DAQ, sensors, PLCs, and motion control. Excellent communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
