About The Role
We are seeking a Systems Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis in Cupertino, CA. This role requires a highly skilled professional with strong Python programming capabilities and experience in hardware/software integration testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing manual and automated system-level tests, validating hardware and sensing system performance, and maintaining the test infrastructure within a lab environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including hardware, software, and systems engineers—is essential to ensure prototype imaging and sensing hardware meet all specified requirements and perform reliably. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced environment, contributing directly to the development and validation of innovative sensing solutions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, test automation, and data analysis. Experience with black-box and/or white-box testing methodologies. Comfortable working in hardware test environments, including prototype devices and sensing hardware. Understanding of system-level test validation for complex hardware/software systems. Familiarity with test automation frameworks, continuous integration (CI) tools, and scripting environments. Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Strong documentation and reporting skills to ensure clear communication of test results and procedures. Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities
Execute and monitor validation tests for prototype hardware and sensing systems, ensuring comprehensive coverage and reliable results. Develop, write, and debug Python scripts to automate testing procedures and facilitate data analysis. Maintain and enhance existing test cases, setups, and infrastructure based on evolving project requirements. Identify, triage, and report hardware and software issues uncovered during testing phases. Ensure test coverage aligns with product requirements provided by internal teams and stakeholders. Support continuous integration workflows, contributing to automation pipelines to streamline testing processes. Own the documentation of test setups, execution procedures, and results for transparency and future reference. Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to expand testing capabilities and improve efficiency. Participate in equipment maintenance, calibration, and ensuring lab readiness for ongoing testing activities.
