Job Summary
The Test Proctor is responsible for administering and monitoring standardized assessments funded and regulated under Indiana Adult Education and Workforce Development (DWD) programs. Assessments include GED, English language assessments (ELL), ACT WorkKeys, and GED testing delivered through Pearson VUE. This position ensures a secure, compliant, and equitable testing environment in accordance with Indiana Department of Workforce Development Adult Education policies, testing vendor requirements, and applicable federal guidelines. The Test Proctor plays a critical role in maintaining test integrity, supporting program performance outcomes, and promoting student success
Key Responsibilities
Administer GED, English language assessments (ELL), ACT WorkKeys, and Pearson VUE GED exams in compliance with Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Adult Education policies, National Reporting System (NRS) requirements, and all testing vendor guidelines Serve as a certified Pearson VUE proctor (or obtain certification within a required timeframe) Follow Indiana Adult Education assessment protocols for pre-testing, post-testing, retesting, and documentation Verify test-taker identity, eligibility, and required documentation in accordance with DWD and vendor standards Prepare testing rooms with the necessary equipment to administer testing Monitor examinees during testing to ensure compliance with testing rules and prevent prohibited behaviors Maintain accurate testing records, sign-in/sign-out logs, seating charts, and required audit documentation Troubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate with IT staff or testing vendors as needed Maintain confidentiality of student records and assessment data in accordance with DWD data privacy requirements Provide clear instructions and professional customer service to adult learners before, during, and after testing Support program performance accountability by ensuring timely and accurate submission of required testing documentation
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required) Ability to obtain and maintain Pearson VUE certification (required) Ability to comply with Indiana Adult Education and DWD assessment policies and monitoring requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to strictly follow standardized procedures Basic computer proficiency, including use of testing platforms, email, and data entry systems Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills Ability to remain calm, professional, and impartial in high-stakes testing environments
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while monitoring testing sessions Ability to lift and move testing materials or equipment up to 25 lbs Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, based on testing schedules In Person Role 100% of the time
