Position: Test Lead

Location: 1-2 days a week from Solihull, with occasional travel to Croydon based on business needs

Job Description

• bout the Role
• As a Test Lead, you will lead the testing function across a large-scale digital transformation programme. You will define test strategy, oversee delivery across multiple teams and systems, and ensure high-quality software is released consistently. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder management.
• Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end testing activities including planning, execution, and reporting
• Define and maintain test strategy, frameworks, and quality standards
• Oversee automated testing using JUnit, Cucumber, and Selenium
• Coordinate system, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
• Ensure backend validation and data integrity using PostgreSQL
• Manage service virtualisation using WireMock
• Lead performance and load testing using JMeter
• Manage risks, dependencies, defects, and test resources
• Coach and mentor testers and automation engineers
• Drive continuous improvement in testing practices and tooling
• Essential Skills
• Proven experience leading testing teams in complex environments
• Strong hands-on background in automation testing
• Experience with Spring-based microservices architectures
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and backend validation
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and agile delivery
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Desirable
• Experience in large digital transformation programmes
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms
• Knowledge of BDD/TDD, API testing, and contract testing
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools
