Role & seniority: Software Validation Engineer (mid-level to senior‑level) in Marelli Propulsion Software Validation Team, based in Bologna.
Stack/tools: Embedded software testing; scripting for test cases; Matlab/Simulink; Python; CAPL; C/C++; basic HW/diagnostic tools; CAN, SPI, LIN; Software Development Life Cycle; Test documentation; CAPL/ControlDesk/HIL knowledge.
Design mid-to-high complexity test cases from requirements and qualification criteria; define testing strategy including edge and negative cases.
Implement manual and automated tests, document test scripts/reports, organize reviews, and analyze test results.
Act as test coordinator for small projects; mentor teammates; support onboarding and process improvements; perform test runs and assess outcomes.
Bachelor/Master in Electronic, Computer Engineering, or Automatics; basic HW knowledge.
Software testing principles; embedded systems and microcontrollers.
Automotive communication protocols (CAN, SPI, LIN); testing within SDLC.
