Summary Redwire Space Missions has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Test Engineer and Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) IPT Lead at our Albuquerque, NM facility. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of all AI&T activities for a high-priority spacecraft program. You will ensure successful integration of flight hardware and software, readiness for environmental and functional testing, and successful delivery to the customer. This position requires strong leadership, technical depth, and the ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines, suppliers, and program management to achieve mission success. Responsibilities Lead the AI&T IPT, ensuring all integration and test activities are executed on schedule, within budget, and to technical requirements. Develop and maintain the AI&T plan, including build flow, integration sequences, test campaigns, and resource allocation. Oversee spacecraft-level integration of subsystems and components, ensuring proper configuration control and interface compliance. Manage environmental and functional test campaigns (thermal vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, acoustic, deployment tests), including readiness reviews and anomaly resolution. Coordinate with systems engineering, hardware teams, and operations to ensure verification and validation closure. Drive risk management for integration and test activities, identifying and mitigating technical and schedule risks. Serve as the primary technical interface for AI&T with program leadership, customers, and suppliers. Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and mission assurance standards throughout all AI&T operations.
Ideal Experience Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. 12+ years of experience in spacecraft assembly, integration, and test. Experience supporting government space customers (NASA, Space Force, SDA, DARPA) and/or prime contractors. Experience leading AI&T execution for complex spacecraft programs through environmental test and delivery. Must have Active U.S. security clearance.
Desired Skills Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or related technical discipline. Experience with full spacecraft lifecycle from design through launch and on-orbit operations. Demonstrated ability to manage cost, schedule, and technical performance for AI&T scope. Expert understanding of spacecraft systems, test architectures, ground support equipment (GSE), and environmental testing. Deep expertise in environmental testing at the vehicle and unit level, including shock, vibration, thermal vacuum, and EMI/EMC. Proficient with digital test management, automated data collection, and configuration tracking tools. Experience with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent. Experience with agile task execution tools, such as Jira or Confluence. Experience defining and satisfying success criteria in alignment to test and launch readiness. Experience with launch vehicle integration and pre-launch operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal leadership. Active TS/SCI clearance. Ability to travel – 25% travel may be required.
