About the Role
As a Diagnostic Tester, you will be a key member of our ophthalmic team, assisting patients and the ophthalmologist in providing exceptional eye care. You will perform a variety of diagnostic tests to assess patients' vision and eye health, helping to prepare them for a comprehensive exam with the doctor.
Responsibilities
Conduct a range of ophthalmic diagnostic tests, such as visual field tests, OCT scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, autorefraction, and ERG. Effectively operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment, ensuring its proper functionality. Accurately document test results in the patients chart. Prepare patients for each test, explaining the procedures in a clear and concise manner to ease any anxieties. Provide exceptional customer service, greeting patients warmly, answering questions patiently, and ensuring a positive experience throughout their visit. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in an Ophthalmology practice is preferred. Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and procedures is beneficial. Proficient in computer skills and EMR experience is preferred. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Positive attitude, empathy, and a genuine desire to provide excellent patient care. Must be able to follow directions and adhere to established protocols. Ideal for those that have worked in optometry and/or are pre-med.
