Role & seniority: Vehicle Test Engineer I (entry-level)
Stack/tools: Data acquisition methods; diagnostic/test equipment; engineering procedures; data analysis macros; MS Office (Word, Excel); basic programming (e.g., Visual Basic, MATLAB, Python, C++); familiarity with CAN, control modules, and instrumentation (transducers, accelerometers, strain gauges)
Plan, execute, and document full-vehicle tests on track/road, ensuring test readiness and data quality
Monitor tests, diagnose issues, and drive root-cause investigations with Design Engineers
Compile test data, support analysis, and deliver conclusions to customers; maintain test records and repair directions as needed
BS in mechanical/aerospace/automotive engineering or related field; no prior experience required
Solid understanding of powertrain and chassis principles; ability to read engineering drawings/procedures
Knowledge of fluid flow/heat transfer; basic programming/electronics troubleshooting
Proficiency with MS Office; strong documentation and communication
MS in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in powertrain/chassis/body/electrical systems testing/design

Job Summary The Vehicle Test Engineer I will support test procedure execution for full vehicles on test track or road surfaces, at the request of Program or Design Engineers, for attributes such as durability, strength, fatigue, or customer usage, and support planning, tracking, and documentation of full vehicle tests. The Vehicle Test Engineer I will ensure test plans are adequate for intended system validation, ensure vehicles are test ready, that collected data meets requirements, and approved procedures are followed. The role will also utilize a variety of data acquisition methods to support testing test data analysis to form conclusions and develop test procedures. The Vehicle Test Engineer I will support project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members.
