WHY DO WE NEED YOU?
Automation and maintenance support to all departments while driving capital and strategic initiatives focused on process reliability, environmental compliance, and electrical system performance. The engineer will also implement and leverage process control tools to maintain system stability, reduce variability, and align with CertainTeed's Principles. Responsible for observing and following all safety regulations with required PPE. The position will be reporting to the Plant Performance Manager.
Support, maintain, and optimize plant automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks. Develop, modify, and troubleshoot control logic to improve equipment reliability, throughput, and process stability. Provide technical support for instrumentation and control devices, including sensors, transmitters, VFDs, servos, and vision or measurement systems. Lead or support automation scope for capital projects, including equipment specification, controls design, installation oversight, and commissioning. Analyze process and production data to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical and controls-related downtime events and implement corrective actions. Ensure safety system integrity, including interlocks, e_stops, lockout points, and machine safeguarding controls. Collaborate with cross functional teams to support daily operations and long-term plant performance goals. Train technicians and operators on automation systems, troubleshooting methods, and best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging automation to reduce waste, improve uptime, and enhance product consistency. Serve as the plants first point of contact for IT issues.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required (Electrical Engineering is preferred) Minimum of 3 years working within a Controls & Automation Engineering role in continuous process manufacturing plants, or similar “Hands-On” problem solver capable of providing on-site and remote support to multiple plants to solve complex automation-related issues and any difficult troubleshooting issues Programming of Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix) is required.
