Job Summary Performs implementation of industrial automation platforms and systems creating the basis for manufacturing expansions. Will lead projects during the construction, startup, and qualification phases for various new lines being deployed while following regional IT and automation practices. Will be responsible for ultimate design compliance, and implementation ramp up of these new systems along with other plant personnel. Serves as a subject matter expert at the manufacturing site supporting PLCs, robotics, vision systems, networks, data collection, local, and distributed control systems. Contributes innovative ideas which enhance the design and implementation of both skid based and DCS automation platform implementations. Provides training and development to support personnel helping to build local core competencies able to support ongoing operations. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE INCUMBENT Ensure timely and within budget completion of the projects as assigned by his/her manager. Generates URS, FRS, equipment, and system specifications. Supports commissioning and validation of all automated systems Reviews and approves design documents, submittals, purchases supporting project Assures that assigned projects are in compliance with State, Federal and local codes which encompass environmental protection, FDA and OSHA requirements. Supports Site Data Historian and other SCADA applications. Responsible for integration of Manufacturing Devices with MES applications. Directs and coordinates activities of various vendors for each project to eliminate any potential conflict and assures that vendors comply with all the safety rules and regulations. Prepares Risk Assessments, Safety Assessments, specifications for projects Develop bid packages, selects contractors by comparing vendors/contractors, and award jobs. Upon completion of project, supports ongoing efficiency and performance improvements of plant wide automation systems including PLC’s, data historians, data acquisition, ERP interface systems, BMS, AMS, and process control systems including robotics, servo and motion controls, vision systems, HVAC and utility control systems. Develops local technical staff to support automation systems and manufacturing. REQUIREMENTS Bachelors of Science degree or technical training with 5 years related experience 5 years of Experience in designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing plant floor automation systems and plant central systems and networks Knowledge of Virtual Machines and security solutions utilized in SCADA/Control systems environments. Required either Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) or Siemen PLC Programing software.
