This role owns the quality assurance work related to the issue management portfolio and provides independent oversight, effective challenge, and reporting related to audit and regulatory issues while advancing a modern, efficient, and risk-focused quality assurance program that strengthens audit quality across the organization. This leader also plays a key role in evolving the audit function into a proactive risk partner by identifying systemic and thematic risk trends, improving the flow of actionable information to management, and enabling scalable oversight processes supported by analytics and emerging technologies including AI. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Lead ongoing and periodic quality assurance reviews in accordance with IIA Standards and regulatory guidance. 2. Drive consistency in audit methodology and adherence to audit professional practices. 3. Support external quality assessments and regulatory examinations. 4. Help enable adoption of AI-assisted auditing capabilities through defined governance and quality controls. 5. Establish and manage a comprehensive, dynamic audit assurance program for assigned business units (BU). Supervise and coordinate audit activities to ensure all assigned responsibilities are performed in a high-quality manner and on a timely basis. 6. Directly manage a team of audit professionals and assume responsibility for the overall coordination and successful completion of a dynamic audit plan for assigned BUs. Effectively lead and manage resources to ensure performance measures and metrics are established and met. Provide leadership in the coaching and development of staff. 7. Proactively develop and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with senior management of assigned BUs. 8. Supervise and participate in the planning, scoping and execution of audit activities within the framework established by the department's policies and audit methodology. 9. Comprehensively analyze assigned BUs existing systems, processes and controls to determine the adequacy of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate policies. Identify and evaluate risks present in BU coverage areas. 10. Serve as an audit subject matter expert for assigned BUs, and continually monitor trends and developments in the auditing profession and banking industry. QUALIFICATIONS Required Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or business-related field, or equivalent education and related training or experience. 2. Ten years of progressive audit, risk, or examiner experience with a significant portion in the financial services industry, preferably with a large financial services firm. 3. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of banking, risk management, and audit practices, with the ability to understand the broader risk. 4. Excellent leadership abilities, decision making, and critical thinking skills. 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with senior management and other stakeholders. 6. Appropriate professional certification, such as, but not limited to, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certified Public Accountant. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Demonstrates strong experience with audit issue management, including the evaluation of issue quality, root cause analysis and remediation effectiveness. 2. Strong understanding of IIA Standards, audit methodology, and regulatory guidance applicable to internal audit (SR 13-1). 3. Master’s Degree in a Business-related field and/or advanced education related to risk management. 4. Proven ability to provide independent oversight and effective challenge to audit delivery teams without direct involvement in audit execution. 5. Experience preparing and delivering clear, concise, and credible reporting to executive management, the Chief Audit Officer, and audit committees. Ability to translate QAIP results, thematic trends, and root causes into actionable insights for senior stakeholders. 6. Experience leading, developing, and scaling high-performing professionals. 7. Experience applying data analytics, automation, or emerging technologies to audit quality monitoring, issue management, or QA processes.
