Role & seniority: Test Engineer (multiple open positions) for the Lunar Permanence Core Components Test team; hands-on, mid-level with leadership potential in testing programs.
Stack/tools: multi-disciplinary fluids/thermal hardware; test facilities, instrumentation, Data Acquisition/Control Systems; P&ID schematics; 3D CAD; LabVIEW; MATLAB; National Instruments hardware; test plans/procedures; safety assessments.
Plan, execute, and document fluids/thermal component and subsystem tests (development, qualification, acceptance, performance, environmental).
Design, install, and manage test support equipment; coordinate test crews, test configurations, and vendor/subcontractor activities.
Prepare and review Test Plans/Procedures, safety assessments, test readiness reviews, and analyze/archive test data; ensure compliance with overall vehicle test plans.
BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field; 2+ years of relevant test experience.
Experience with pumped fluid loops, thermal hardware, and space-vehicle component/subsystem testing (structural, vibe, acoustic, modal).

As a Test Engineer working with a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the Lunar Permanence Core Components Test team through development, acceptance, and qualification testing of flight hardware for Lunar Landers (https://www.blueorigin.com/blue-moon). This is a hands-on position where you will apply broad multi-disciplinary engineering (fluids, thermal, mechanical, and electrical/electronic) knowledge, skills, and methods to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Special Mentions: Onsite at LSO Relocation provided Interviews will include a technical assessment Multiple positions available Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Apply direct experience to fluids and/or thermal component and subsystem test planning and execution, which could include development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing. Execute test procedures. Identify test events, needs and equipment required for test. Apply experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems. Create and review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts. Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation. Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing. Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews. Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns. Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing. Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations. Reduce, analyze, and archive test data. Integrate between fluids and thermal subsystems and overall system level vehicle to ensure component level testing is in compliance with overall vehicle test plans. Minimum Qualifications: Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space! BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline. 2+ years of relevant testing experience including pumps, valves, thermal control elements, propulsion elements, sensors, pneumatic/hydraulic fluids, and/or piping. Solid understanding of pumped fluid loops and thermal hardware such as pressurized systems, actuators, heat exchangers, radiators, etc. Experience with space vehicle component or subsystem testing including structural, vibe, acoustic, modal. Experience reading P&ID schematics/layout designs. Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process. Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills. Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. Ability to support shift-work as needed to meet customer demands A strong safety record. Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers, and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with aerospace flight hardware Established technical expertise in test stand design, operations, and maintenance Experience utilizing space and industry standards such as MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and MIL-STD-1540 Knowledge of a variety of fluids; experience with cryogenics and monopropellants is a plus Experience executing component testing at rate Instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems experience, with preference towards National Instruments hardware Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication and integration processes, and quality control Understanding/experience with hazardous operations and design for system safety Strong Project Management skills to include budgeting and schedule development Experience with 3D CAD tools, LabView, MATLAB, and data management Culture Statement Don’t meet all desired requirements?
