Quality Assurance Engineer II – Developer Experiences

Location: Hybrid, Mercer Island, WA
About the Role As a Quality Assurance Engineer II on the Developer Experiences team, you will own and continuously evolve the QA processes that support internal development tools. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, producers, and project managers to ensure high‑quality tools and systems that enable teams to work efficiently and deliver better experiences for end users.
You will be responsible for integrating quality practices across the full software development lifecycle—from design through release—while identifying smarter, more efficient ways to improve quality, delivery velocity, and operational excellence. This role also includes close collaboration with other QA professionals across a distributed environment to share best practices and drive consistent, high‑quality outcomes.
Responsibilities Core Quality Ownership Lead and execute quality activities including test planning, test execution, defect management, coordination, and risk assessment. Diagnose crashes and defects by analyzing stack traces, logs, and runtime data to pinpoint failure points and impacted systems. Conduct root‑cause analysis by synthesizing crash data, reproduction steps, and system behaviors. Investigate complex or recurring issues using detailed forensic analysis of execution paths, regressions, and system boundaries. Interpret observability and telemetry data to understand system behavior and identify gaps in instrumentation or logging. Attribute issues to the correct codebase, service, or tool component, providing clear documentation and actionable next steps. Process & Quality Improvements Identify opportunities to enhance development workflows, product quality, and tooling effectiveness. Recommend and introduce new approaches to risk identification, mitigation, and quality best practices. Operate independently with minimal direction while fully owning planning, execution, and follow‑through of QA work. Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and practices to increase efficiency and impact over time. Required Qualifications Experience designing and executing comprehensive test plans. Experience contributing to or owning components of a defect database. Experience managing and tasking remote testing resources, including providing feedback. Experience working closely with engineers or content creators in an embedded team environment. Experience generating custom reports on test coverage and defect trends. 3+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience, with a history of leading testing efforts on a team. Desired Qualifications Experience with Creator Workflows, Jira, advanced logging/telemetry systems (e.g., Sentry), and AI‑assisted tooling. Preferred Certifications ISTQB Foundation Level ISTQB Agile Tester or ICAgile Agile Testing (ICP‑TST) ISTQB Expert Level ISTQB Advanced Test Manager ICAgile Test Expert (ICE‑AT)
