What you'll do
We are seeking a Product Quality Engineering Intern to join us this summer. In this role, you will gain hands‑on experience with high‑reliability tactical and space‑class electronics, collaborating with teams that plan, integrate, test, and validate compliance for mission‑critical hardware. You will assist Product Quality Engineers in ensuring our products meet the rigorous performance and reliability expectations of our government customers. You will also participate in the development and improvement of quality processes that strengthen our ability to build and deliver dependable systems.
The day-to-day
Support product yield and defect trend analysis and provide data‑driven insights that help improve quality performance. Assist with structured problem‑solving by contributing to root‑cause identification, corrective/preventive actions, and clear documentation. Evaluate the product quality of internal builds and procured components and summarize findings with recommended next steps. Help strengthen defect data integrity by standardizing defect classification, improving cause coding, and ensuring accurate, complete quality records. Partner with manufacturing, test, and engineering teams to clarify workflows, inspection points, and traceability steps, and document agreed changes. Contribute to developing repeatable processes, templates, and checklists that support consistent execution across programs and sites. Communicate results clearly by turning analysis into simple visuals, summaries, or recommendations for Product Quality Engineers and cross‑functional partners. Internship Program Details This role is onsite at a Viasat office location; onsite/hybrid work varies by team. Housing and relocation assistance may be available depending on eligibility. Compensation is standardized and based on factors including role, location, and graduation date.

What you'll need
Requirements Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027. Strong digital literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong math, statistics, and data analysis skills. Ability to work onsite for the full internship length.
U. S. citizenship required.

Salary range
$20.91 - $56.97 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly
