Stack/tools: Design Quality Assurance programs; validation planning; prototype and validation activities; failure analysis (pre-production/prototype); interface with validation labs; Test Systems Engineering; PFMEAs; functional safety planning and audits; participation in Gate Reviews and Program Gate Management; quotes/support for new product opportunities.

  1. Develop, implement, coordinate and perform design quality assurance to prevent/eliminate defects; validate customer requirements.

  2. Lead validation planning, failure analysis, and issue resolution with customers and labs; define test/validation equipment needs with Test Systems Engineering.

  3. Participate in engineering gate reviews, reliability predictions, functional safety activities, and cross-functional product development and improvement initiatives.

Job Summary To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Product Quality Engineer located in Columbia, SC. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Product Quality Engineer develops, implements, coordinates, and performs Design Quality Assurance program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products. What a typical day looks like: Ensure that the customer requirements are met and demonstrated though Validation planning & Product assurance planning Failure analysis of pre- production and prototype products. Work as part of the cross functional engineering team throughout the product development process. Asist in determing validation requirements for design and manufacturing change requests. Communicate and resolve validation and prototype issues with customers. Interfaces with the customer regarding validation planning and results. Interface with validation labs as required to resolve issues. Work with Test Systems Engineering to define requirements for test and validation equipment. Review and analyse customer requirements and specifications to ensure they are reflected in the functional and reliability validation. Participate in the Engineering Gate Review Process. Participate in Program Gate Management Reviews Lead reliability predictions. Assist with development of functional safety plans and participate in the functional safety audit process. Participate with Business Development, Program Management and other engineering disciplines in generating quotes for new product opportunities. Definition of customer quality goals. Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities. Interface with customers on technical/quality issues and improvement initiatives. Work with product design engineers on the prototype build process, create prototype control plans and assist with prototype PFMEAs as required. The experience we’re looking to add to our team: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent. 8 years experience developing, implementing and maintaining quality systems or related area. Demonstrates expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills. Demonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
