Role & seniority: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET); mid- to senior-level role within SumUp’s Global Bank Team
Stack/tools: Kotlin, Go, Python, Java (or similar); internal tools/SDKs; Docker, Kubernetes, AWS; modern observability stacks; CI/CD
Build and operate performance monitoring, regression-detection platforms, data-generation systems, shadow-traffic and automated validation infra
Improve CI/CD reliability, speed, observability; develop internal SDKs/CLIs and automation frameworks; promote contract testing and integration-first patterns
Design and embed tooling to reduce deployment lead time, automate coverage from incidents, modernize automation architecture, and partner with squads to solve high-leverage problems
Strong software engineering experience in Kotlin/Go/Python/Java or similar; built internal tools or frameworks used by engineers
Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven systems, CI/CD; hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS; familiarity with observability stacks
Experience improving DevEx/CI/CD tooling at scale; performance/load testing and distributed tracing; designing integration/testing frameworks
Kafka, Pact, fintech domain experience, PostgreSQL, developer portals, or open-source tooling
