Quality Engineer Direct Hire Rockford, IN Our client is a global industrial manufacturer with a strong North American presence and is seeking a hands-on, high-impact Quality Engineer to drive product and process excellence within a complex manufacturing environment. This is not a maintenance quality role — this is a problem-solving, KPI-driving, cross-functional leadership opportunity for someone who thrives in reducing field failures, lowering non-quality costs, and leading corrective action initiatives that stick. What You’ll Own Drive reduction of Field Failures & Cost of Poor Quality Lead structured investigations using 8D, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies Develop and implement inspection and quality control plans Audit critical manufacturing processes and implement improvement initiatives Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to solve systemic issues Analyze returned product failures and lead containment + long-term resolution plans Provide guidance and technical coaching to quality technicians Support pilot runs and sample validation initiatives Visit customer sites (as needed) to evaluate product performance and ensure application success
What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent industry experience) Background in manufacturing quality engineering Strong working knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma tools Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) preferred Experience leading structured quality investigations (8D required) ERP experience Strong analytical mindset with the ability to influence without authority Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
