Senior Full Stack Quality Engineer Permanent | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote) | Central London up to £75,000 and bonus scheme
An established, global organisation within the specialty insurance sector is seeking a Senior Full Stack Quality Engineer to join its technology function. This is a hands-on, senior-level role where quality is treated as a core engineering discipline, not an afterthought.
You’ll act as a guardian of quality within an Agile product team, leading testing activity across the full delivery lifecycle and driving continuous improvement in tooling, automation, and processes. Working closely with developers, product owners, delivery leads, and offshore test partners, you’ll ensure high-quality, reliable software releases that support critical business processes.
This role operates within a matrix reporting structure, reporting into a central Quality Engineering practice while supporting delivery leadership within the product team.
What You’ll Be Doing Quality Strategy & Delivery Act as the quality advocate within a cross-functional Agile product team Own and deliver test strategy, planning, execution, and reporting Champion a shift-left testing approach across the SDLC Participate fully in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement Support production incidents and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement Define and track quality metrics such as test coverage, automation coverage, defect density, and defect leakage Hands-On Testing & Automation Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases covering functional, integration, and regression scenarios Build, maintain, and enhance UI automation using Katalon Studio Apply automation best practices in collaboration with a central automation function Introduce and expand in-sprint automation alongside engineering teams Perform root cause analysis of defects and work closely with developers on resolution Support UAT activities and facilitate sprint demos when required Collaborate with DevOps teams to resolve environment and deployment issues Leadership & Collaboration Mentor and guide offshore testing resources as required Work closely with delivery leads, product owners, business analysts, and developers to embed quality throughout delivery Build and maintain product knowledge and documentation for long-term team sustainability
What We’re Looking For Essential Experience & Skills Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments Proven background as a Senior Quality Engineer, covering both manual testing and automation
Hands-on experience with
- Pega (including scenario testing)
- Katalon Studio (Professional or Expert level)
- CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Azure Test Plans
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Confident working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Desirable
- Experience within the London Market insurance domain
- Relevant London Market certifications (e.g. LM1 / LM2)
