About the Job
Industry: Electric Aviation / Advanced Air Mobility
Location: Vermont
This role sits within the Fly-by-Wire Flight Control team at a pioneering electric aviation company developing aircraft and charging infrastructure from the ground up. The organisation is working across the full development lifecycle, from early-stage design through to certification and production, with a clear mission to decarbonise aviation.
The Verification Engineer will play a hands-on role in ensuring the flight control system and its integration with key subsystems meets the rigorous safety and performance standards required for certification. This is a technically demanding position suited to engineers who thrive in a lab environment, take pride in test rigour, and want their work to have a direct impact on flight safety and programme progression.
Responsibilities
Execute, automate, and analyse verification testing for the aircraft flight control system and related subsystems including inceptors, flight control computers, GNC algorithms, propulsion motors, batteries, and actuators
Run tests across SiL, HiL, bench, and integrated system rig environments, including combined flight control, battery, and electric propulsion configurations
Author test cases, procedures, and scripts with clearly defined pass/fail criteria, maintaining full traceability to system and software requirements
Collaborate with system architects and discipline engineers to refine test plans, review results, and resolve discrepancies
Improve lab repeatability and rigour through better procedure development, results recording, and hardware/software configuration control
Plan and execute test campaigns, producing clear reports, dashboards, and coverage summaries to communicate status and risk
Support lab equipment setup, maintenance, and organisation, ensuring a safe and productive test environment
Build and maintain data acquisition and visualisation pipelines to accelerate analysis and decision making
Automate test execution and regression suites, contributing to continuous integration and test infrastructure
Document lab tools, instruments, and user guidelines, and support onboarding of new lab users
Participate in issue triage and root-cause investigations, tracking defects through to closure with engineering owners
Required Experience & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Computer Engineering, or related field
2+ years of experience in verification and test within control systems, avionics, automotive, robotics, or other safety-critical domains — strong graduates with relevant project or internship experience are encouraged to apply
Hands-on experience executing tests in HiL/SiL or similar environments working with integrated electromechanical systems
Strong test development and planning skills including writing test cases and procedures, defining data collection logic, and generating reports
Working knowledge of requirements traceability, configuration management, and defect tracking
Proficiency in scripting and data analysis, particularly Python
Familiarity with aerospace safety practices such as ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, and DO-254
Practical lab skills with a safety-first mindset and strong attention to detail
Clear communication and collaboration skills in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment
Desirable / Additional Qualifications
Experience with Polarion ALM for requirements and test management
Hands-on experience with dSPACE, Speedgoat HiL, NI VeriStand, or LabVIEW platforms
Exposure to flight test support, instrumentation, or post-flight data analysis
Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, and common avionics or industrial interfaces
Experience with DAQ hardware and associated data pipelines
MATLAB/Simulink experience for modelling and analysis
