Role & seniority: Systems Verification and Validation Lead; senior position reporting to the senior systems leadership team within a multi-disciplinary engineering context.
Stack/tools: physical-domain V&V; Design Verification Plans (DVPs); requirements management and ALM tools; configuration management (CM) artefacts; system/subsystem/component level requirements; integration with mechanical, electrical, and software teams; supplier management.
Lead verification and validation activities for the physical domain to ensure system compliance with requirements and program commitments.
Develop, maintain, and manage DVPs and CM artefacts; assess design change impacts; log and track defects; coordinate across internal teams and external suppliers.
Lead technical progress meetings, milestone reviews, supplier work packages, and support certification strategies (environmental, EMC, power, storage, transportability); support risk management and regulatory/compliance activities.
Strong systems engineering knowledge, lifecycle practices, and experience with requirements at system/subsystem/component level.
Experience in verification/validation, assurance, or certification-focused roles; cross-disciplinary collaboration (systems, mechanical, electrical, software).
Experience with supplier engagement, externally delivered work packages, and working in a regulated, safety-critical environment.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Systems Verification and Validation Lead to join a specialist engineering team supporting the delivery of a highly advanced directed energy weapon system.
This role performs the duties of a system-level V&V lead for the physical domain and reports into the senior systems leadership team, working closely with multi-disciplinary engineering functions and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities Lead verification and validation activities for the physical domain, ensuring overall system compliance with requirements and programme commitments Coordinate physical functionality, performance, and constraints across the weapon system in collaboration with the wider systems team Own and maintain physical design compliance statements and configuration management artefacts at system level Assess design change impacts and lead associated reconciliation activities Develop and manage Design Verification Plans (DVPs) and requirements within Application Lifecycle Management tools Log, track, and resolve defects identified during V&V activities in collaboration with development teams Lead technical progress meetings and milestone reviews with internal and external suppliers Manage supplier work packages, including schedule, cost, quality, and performance metrics Support certification strategies covering environmental, EMC, power utilisation, storage, and transportability requirements Contribute to system design reviews including PDR, DDR, and CDR Identify and mitigate technical risks through structured risk management strategies Support regulatory and compliance activities including CE marking and uplift of supporting documentation Respond to customer queries relating to compliance interpretation, certification, and product usage
The ideal candidate would have Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, processes, and lifecycle practices Experience working with requirements at system, subsystem, or component level A solid understanding of hardware design, build, and physical integration Awareness of test methodologies and evidence gathering required for product certification Experience producing technical reports and working with configuration management tools Confidence presenting technical information and supporting engineering decision-making
The ideal candidate must have Experience operating in a verification and validation, assurance, or certification-focused role Proven ability to work across multi-disciplinary engineering teams including systems, mechanical, electrical, and software Experience engaging with suppliers and managing externally delivered engineering work packages The ability to work in a regulated, safety-critical engineering environment
