Full Description
Your Role As a Platform Test Multimedia Interoperability Validation Engineer, you will ensure seamless compatibility of USB, Display, and Charger devices across the Windows ecosystem. You will execute end‑to‑end device interoperability tests, manage a diverse hardware inventory, define test plans, and collaborate with engineering teams, OEMs, and silicon partners to improve user experience and ecosystem reliability.
In this role, you will
- Validate USB, Type‑C, PD charging, DisplayPort/HDMI, Thunderbolt, hubs, docks, and charger interoperability on Windows devices.
- Test scenarios like enumeration, alternate modes, display topology, PD negotiation, MST, and sleep/resume reliability across multiple hardware and Windows builds.
- Manage and maintain the device inventory, track lifecycle, and source new peripherals aligned with emerging standards.
- Define test matrices and collaborate with PM and Automation teams to prioritize scenarios and build automated suites.
- Perform debugging across USB/PD stacks, display pipelines, drivers, and firmware using traces, logs, and dumps.
- Work with OEMs, silicon vendors, and device manufacturers to reproduce, analyze, and close issues.
- Stay updated with USB‑IF, VESA, HDMI, and Thunderbolt specifications and validate against new protocols.
- Provide data‑driven insights to influence Windows feature design and compatibility policies.
- Your Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in hardware validation, device interoperability, or I/O subsystem testing.
- Strong hands‑on experience with USB (2/3/4), Type‑C, PD negotiation, DisplayPort/HDMI, and Thunderbolt.
- Solid understanding of firmware (EC, BIOS/UEFI), drivers, Windows OS I/O paths, and power management.
- Skilled in debugging using USB/PD analyzers, protocol sniffers, and Windows log analysis.
- Experience with Windows HLK/HCK, certification workflows, and scripting (Python/PowerShell) is a plus.
- Knowledge of signal integrity, alt‑mode negotiation, display topologies, and ARM‑based platforms is beneficial.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
