Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Interoperability Test Engineer to define, execute, and own end-to-end interoperability (IOP) validation for client and server platforms.
The role involves building comprehensive test strategies, managing device compatibility matrices, driving execution across multiple test benches, and ensuring high-quality platform readiness through structured validation and release gating.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PC architecture, system/platform validation, and cross-device interoperability testing, along with solid program management and stakeholder communication skills.
Key Strategy & Planning
Define and maintain the Interoperability (IOP) test strategy, including coverage maps, test plans, and execution phases. Develop and manage device compatibility matrices using QVL/QDL methodologies. Establish validation scope across platforms, peripherals, and configurations.
Test Execution & Delivery
Own test execution planning, including schedules, resource allocation, and test bench management. Drive parallel test execution to maximize coverage, throughput, and efficiency. Ensure timely completion of test milestones aligned with platform and release timelines.
Platform & System Validation
Perform interoperability validation across client/server PC platforms and connected devices. Validate functionality across firmware, OS, drivers, and hardware components. Identify, triage, and track interoperability issues through closure.
Defect Management & Release Readiness
Manage the defect lifecycle using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps. Support release gating decisions by providing risk assessments and quality metrics. Collaborate with engineering, BIOS, driver, silicon, and OEM/ODM teams to resolve issues.
Program & Stakeholder Management
Track dependencies, risks, and execution status across multiple stakeholders. Provide clear status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries. Proactively escalate risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Technical Skills
Required Skills & Experience
28+ years of experience in system/platform validation, interoperability testing, or silicon/platform QA.
Strong understanding of PC architecture, including
- UEFI & ACPI
- PCIe
- USB & Type-C / Power Delivery
- NVMe storage
- Graphics & display stack
- Networking subsystems
- Experience validating hardwaresoftware interactions across firmware, OS, and drivers.
Tools & Process
Hands-on experience with defect tracking and test management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent). Familiarity with structured test methodologies, release gating, and quality metrics.
Program & Soft Skills
Strong program management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, and dependency tracking. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to articulate technical risks clearly and support data-driven decisions at leadership level.
