About The Role We are looking for an AI Automation Engineer to join our product engineering team. This is a new role at Nova — you'll be the person who identifies manual, repetitive, or inefficient processes across the company and builds AI-powered automations to eliminate them. Think of this as a Solutions Architect meets AI Builder role. You won't be writing large-scale production code — instead, you'll use automation platforms (n8n, Make, Zapier), AI APIs (OpenAI, Claude), scripting (Python/JS), and internal tools to ship solutions fast. A workflow you build on Monday should be saving someone 5 hours by Friday. You'll work across every team — engineering, ops, customer experience, sales — identifying what can be automated, prototyping it quickly, and getting it into production. You should be obsessed with eliminating toil and building things that work without human babysitting.

Core Responsibilities Identify automation opportunities across departments by embedding with teams, understanding their workflows, and spotting repetitive manual work Design, build, and maintain automation workflows using n8n, Make.com, or Zapier Integrate AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) into workflows for intelligent document processing, data extraction, classification, summarization, and decision support Build AI agents and assistants for internal use — bots, data lookup tools, report generators, monitoring alerts Write Python/JavaScript scripts for custom automation logic when no-code tools hit their limits Connect third-party APIs, webhooks, and REST endpoints to orchestrate data flow across multiple internal and external systems Build and maintain internal tools and dashboards using Retool, Windmill, or similar platforms Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines — connecting AI to company knowledge bases and documentation Monitor, debug, and maintain deployed automations — when something breaks, the workflow should self-heal or alert, not silently fail
