Salary: $28 - $35 / hour
Role & seniority: Test Technician I (entry-level)
Stack/tools: vibration/shock testing equipment (electrodynamic shakers), lab fixtures, sensors/accelerometers, hand tools, test procedures, basic PC skills (Excel/Word); familiarity with lab safety, ESD/FOD, calibration; IPC-A-610 or IPC/WHMA-A-620A knowledge a plus
Support vibration and shock testing of electronic products/components
Build test setups and follow procedures to execute tests, teardown, and collect data
Monitor tests, record results accurately, and assist with reports; maintain lab equipment and safety
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree/technical certificate preferred)
1+ years in electronics, mechanical systems, or product testing
Ability to read/write test procedures, operate hand tools, attention to detail
Basic computer proficiency; ability to obtain U.S. security clearance
Prior hands-on lab/workshop experience; familiarity with vibration/environmental test equipment
Knowledge of IPC standards; lab safety practices and calibration experience
Location & work type: On-site in San Diego, CA; full-time with 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)
Support Testing: Assist with vibration and shock testing of electronic products and components using electrodynamic shakers and other lab equipment.
Build Test Setups: Use standard hand tools to assemble fixtures, install sensors, accelerometers, and cables under guidance.
Run Procedures: Follow written instructions to perform test setup, execution, and teardown.
Collect Data: Record results accurately and assist with organizing reports for review.
Monitor & Report: Observe tests in progress, noting irregularities and reporting them to senior staff.
Maintain the Lab: Perform routine equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and keep the lab clean and organized.
Collaborate: Work closely with engineers and senior technicians to discuss findings and support ongoing improvements.
Adapt: Take on additional tasks as assigned to support the success of the team.
Hands-On Work: Comfortable using hand tools and eager to learn how to operate lab and test equipment.
Attention to Detail: Careful in following instructions, recording data, and noticing irregularities during testing.
Teamwork: Strong communicator who collaborates well with engineers and other technicians.
Problem Solving: Able to perform basic troubleshooting under supervision and contribute to continuous improvements.
