The Network Automation Engineer is responsible for evaluating, troubleshooting, and resolving complex network and security issues in a timely manner, escalating when appropriate. This role supports the Network and Security Engineering team in implementing and operating enterprise-wide cybersecurity initiatives and large-scale streaming and infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain an Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) network automation environment Develop automated workflows and tooling to reduce operational overhead and improve efficiency Serve as an escalation point for the Network Security Operations Team and Network Operations Center (NOC) Create and maintain operational documentation and playbooks for troubleshooting and support Configure and maintain firewalls, including security policies, VPNs, and IPSec tunnels Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Qualifications & Skills
5+ years of professional experience supporting and maintaining enterprise-level network and security infrastructure Advanced knowledge of networking concepts including topology, IP networking, protocols, and routing/switching principles (L2 switching, L3 routing, BGP, etc.) Experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Go, or similar), including Jinja2 and Ansible Strong experience integrating and working with APIs Hands-on experience with NetBox, Docker, and Linux Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated desire to learn, take on challenges, and continuously improve CCNP certification preferred Portfolio of automation projects and scripts strongly preferred
Compensation: $65-$75/hour (based on experience and qualifications)
