Role & seniority: Finance Control Testing Manager, 12-month fixed term (First Line of Defence)
Stack/tools: Finance control testing; GRC system; control registers; testing artifacts; reporting packs; QA and remediation tracking
Develop and deliver the quarterly Finance control testing plan, scope activities, and manage day-to-day execution with control testers
Provide training and oversight on test scripts, conduct process walkthroughs, assess design effectiveness, and test operating effectiveness
Manage issue lifecycle: document weaknesses, agree remediation plans, track remediation, re-test, and prepare leadership reporting
Qualified Accountant; experience in a regulated environment (banking preferred)
Background in risk management, internal controls, internal or external audit (Finance internal controls preferred)
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and attention to detail
Banking sector experience; Big 4 background; expertise in internal controls over financial reporting

The Finance Risk and Controls team is responsible for the oversight of Risk and Controls for the Finance function. The role is for a Finance Control testing Manager (12 month FTC) within 1LoD and is responsible for conducting and reviewing control testing across Finance.
Develop and deliver the quarterly Finance control testing plan. Scope and plan testing activities ensuring adequate coverage of key Finance processes Manage the day to day execution of the testing plan by working with the Finance team control testers to ensure that it is completed on time and to a high standard.
Provide training to control testers, providing guidance and robust quality assurance on their test scripts and testing outputs Conduct walkthrough with process and control owners to confirm the accuracy of process documentation and assess the design effectiveness of key controls. Oversee (and where necessary, perform) detailed testing to assess the operating effectiveness of controls, ensuring test samples are appropriate and conclusions are sufficient and evidence based.
Maintain the control register in the GRC, ensuring it accurately reflects the results of control testing Document control weaknesses identified through testing Collaborate with control owners to agree remediation plans Manage the end to end lifecycle of control issues, tracking remediation plans to completion and performing re-testing to validate their effectiveness. Assist team in preparing reporting packs for Finance leadership, summarising testing results, key themes, control gaps and the status of remediation.
Requirements
Qualified Accountant with experience working in a regulated environment, (Banking sector preferable) Experience in risk management, internal controls, internal audit, or external audit, preferably from Big 4. (Experience in Finance internal controls preferable e.g. internal controls over financial reporting) Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to challenge constructively Attention to detail
