Role & seniority: Senior/Staff Vehicle Software Test Engineer (quality/verification focus)
Stack/tools: Python, C/C++, embedded systems; vehicle data/telemetry; CAN and Ethernet; test tools (Vector CANalyzer, PCAN, Vector CANape or equivalents); software calibration tools; experience with EV subsystems, especially Thermal Management; cloud data handling
Collaborate with software developers to integrate features at the vehicle level
Diagnose field issues, drive cross-functional resolutions, define and execute vehicle test cases; create test scripts for post-processing vehicle data
Build data catalogs of regression tests, track feature maturity, identify root causes, and propose robust solutions; support bringing up software for new vehicle programs
Must-have skills: Degree in CS/CE/EE/ME/Software Eng; 3+ years in control systems (automotive or aerospace preferred); experience with CAN/Ethernet and bus monitoring tools; strong electromechanical understanding; familiarity with EV subsystems (Thermal Management); Python and C/C++ proficiency; ability to work under pressure; good teamwork and communication

Responsibilities
Collaborate with software developers to integrate new software features at the vehicle level Lead efforts to diagnose field issues and work cross functionally with various teams to drive resolutions Define and execute vehicle test cases for new features Creating test scripts for post processing vehicle data Gather data from communication systems commonly used in embedded systems like CAN and Ethernet as well as from vehicle telemetry stored in the cloud Track feature maturity and develop comprehensive catalog of regression test cases to ensure quality of released software Root-cause bugs identified during test and integration; propose robust solutions to address issues identified Bring up software to support new vehicle programs
Qualifications
A degree in either Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software Engineering 3+ years of experience working with control systems – automotive or aerospace experience preferred Working experience with communication bus monitoring tools (Vector CANalyzer, PCAN or equivalent) Strong understanding of electromechanical systems Familiar with EV subsystems especially Thermal Management System Working experience with software calibration tools (Vector CANape or equivalent) Experience coding in Python and C/C++ Ability to thrive under pressure and apply creative and critical thinking to deliver exceptional results Good team player with excellent communication skills
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $107,000 - $133,700 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Full Time Employee coverage is effective on the first day of employment. Part-Time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
