Role & seniority: Mechanisms Test Engineer (Development Test group); level may be I or II depending on experience.
Stack/tools: mechanical design and analysis; GD&T; Unigraphics (NX); finite element analysis (FEA); high-pressure fluid systems; data acquisition and controls; basic programming (Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS).
Create test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists.
Design/analyze structures, fluid systems, and mechanisms; supervise test-stand integration and assembly.
Operate test stands with high attention to detail and manage execution of development tests.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
1+ years designing/building mechanical structures or related experience (academic, extracurricular, research, or professional).
Experience with design/analysis of mechanical structures; ability to supervise fabrication and integration; strong attention to detail.
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Proficiency in NX, FEA, high-pressure fluid system design (up to 30,000 psi), welded structures.
Hands-on design/fabrication experience; data acquisition/controls; programming skills; demonstrated project delivery capability.

MECHANISMS TEST ENGINEER Join the Development Test group as a Test Engineer developing SpaceX's newest products. Development Test is a fast paced R&D focused group that aims to reduce hardware development time and increase reliability by testing SpaceX's upcoming products, ground systems, spacecraft, and launch vehicles. Our Test Engineers design, fabricate, and implement test equipment as well as conduct development tests for the new structures, components, and mechanisms.
Development Test Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Development Test Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
