Build/maintain and execute test plans, scenarios, test cases, plus manual + automated scripts for POS and integrated retail/payment systems.

Run end-to-end retail business process testing (sales, payment processing, refunds/exchanges, promotions, loyalty/membership, pricing, inventory sync).

Validate integration layers: POS apps/backends/APIs, payment gateways, ERP/connected systems, and POS hardware peripherals; manage defects and root-cause analysis.

Position: Retail Systems Test Engineer
Location: Shanghai, China
Experience Required: 7+ Years
Role Overview: _ We are looking for a highly skilled POS QA Engineer to drive the quality assurance efforts for Point-of-Sale (POS) applications and retail payment solutions. The successful candidate will have strong experience in software testing, covering both manual and automated approaches, along with a solid understanding of retail business processes, payment ecosystems, POS operations, and system integrations. This role plays a key part in ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure, and high-performing POS solutions across the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities: - Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and automated/manual test scripts for POS applications and integrated retail solutions. Validate end-to-end retail business processes, including sales transactions, payment processing, refunds, exchanges, promotions, loyalty programs, membership management, pricing, and inventory synchronization. Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing across POS applications, backend services, APIs, payment gateways, ERP platforms, and connected retail systems. Execute both manual and automated test activities to verify application functionality, performance, stability, and overall quality. Log, prioritize, monitor, and validate software defects using standard test management and defect tracking tools while ensuring timely resolution. Investigate recurring issues through root cause analysis and work closely with developers and product teams to implement permanent fixes. Test and validate the integration of POS hardware, including payment terminals, barcode scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers, and other retail peripherals. Produce and maintain comprehensive QA documentation, including test plans, execution reports, defect logs, configuration records, and release validation documentation. Support certification and compliance testing activities to ensure adherence to payment industry regulations and standards, including PCI-DSS and EMV. Participate actively in Agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Provide regular updates on testing progress, quality status, project risks, and release readiness to project teams and business stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. At least 7 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with hands-on expertise in manual testing and/or test automation. Proven experience testing POS systems, retail applications, payment platforms, or other transaction-intensive systems. Strong understanding of retail operations, POS business processes, payment workflows, and omnichannel retail environments. Experience in API testing, integration testing, regression testing, and end-to-end system validation. Proficiency with QA and defect management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, Selenium, or similar testing platforms. Experience performing both application-level and hardware integration testing. Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with enterprise retail POS platforms and modern payment technologies. Familiarity with payment compliance standards and certification processes, including PCI-DSS and EMV. Experience working within Agile or Scrum software development environments. Knowledge of test automation frameworks, scripting languages, and CI/CD or continuous testing practices. Experience with omnichannel retail ecosystems, payment gateway integrations, and cloud-based retail platforms will be considered an advantage.
