**Role & seniority: ** Test Tools Developer/Integrator (hands-on engineer), reports to Test Tools Coordinator Team Lead; functional coordination with Test Tools Coordinator. Service engineer supporting multiple teams (Validation, SysTest, SysIntTest, Quality).

**Stack/tools: ** LabVIEW, TestStand; programming (Python, C++, CAPL, etc.); vehicle/bench communication (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN); Ethernet/TCP-IP, switches; A2B & Analog Audio; test solutions integration; L3 timing plan; documentation + SVN backup.

**Top 3 responsibilities: **

  • Review test automation requirements and develop automation solutions per customer architectures.

  • HW/SW integration of test setups for system/DV/PV/EMC/virtual validation benches and vehicle test environments.

  • Validate/release automation solutions; manage documentation, backups, and support deployment at Troy and other sites.

  • Must-have skills:

    • Strong LabVIEW + TestStand development experience.

    • Programming proficiency (Python/C++/CAPL or similar).

    • Automotive comms expertise (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN).

    • Networking fundamentals (Ethernet, TCP/IP, switching).

    • Experience building “testing solutions” (systematic, hands-on).

    • Collaboration/communication; proactive international mindset.

  • Nice-to-haves: Linux; VECTOR CANoe; RF testing; image processing/video/computer vision; requirements engineering/design tools; automotive/ADAS experience; strong concise documentation;

Project Description

  • The Test Tools Developer/Integrator is a hands-on engineer who works on development and brings up/debugs "Test Automation" solutions (a combination of HW or SW) necessary to test/validate/measure/record a product feature or the product itself.
  • The Test Tool Developer/Integrator reports Hierarchically to the Test Tools Coordinator Team Lead and functionally to the Test Tools Coordinator
  • The Test Tools Developer/Integrator shall be in close contact with TIAT teams around the world to define the approach to follow for the automation of test cases.
  • The Test Tool Developer/Integrator is part of the TIAT Team, and therefore, he is a services engineer who can be reached by several different team members (Validation, SysTest, SysIntTest, and Quality) requesting support. As part of his duties, the Test Tool Developer/Integrator shall follow up on the support request together with the "TIAT Team Leader" to prioritize activities.

Below is a list of test tools (but not limited to) that Test Tool Developer/Integrator shall support

  • System Validation test benches: closed loop HIL, reinjection HIL, system integration test bench, Calibration Test Bench, Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing Benches

  • DV/PV/EMC test benches

  • Vehicle rest bus simulation

  • Vehicle recording system, incl. vehicle fitout, ground truth reference system

  • Virtual validation tools—SIL, virtual sensor models, etc.

  • Various injection/acquisition tools to input/collect output test data from a tested Product

  • SW development for all of the above.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews requirements for Test automation provided by the project test teams (System Validation Team, Mechatronic Test Team, SW Test Team, depending on the Product Line strategy)
  • Development of automation solutions following the customer standard architectures by having a round table discussion with other TIAT team members.
  • HW procurement and inventory control
  • HW and SW integration of test setups
  • Shipment of equipment from or to other sites
  • Contact standard suppliers in case their support is needed for the development of a tool.
  • Create and update a basic L3 timing plan for "Automation Coverage" readiness.
  • Provides estimations in terms of Automation development efforts and costs
  • Keep the requester informed with the status/stage/blocking issues on the development of the automation solution.
  • Reach the TIAT Team Lead/Test Tool Coordinator/Requester in case support is needed.
  • Ensures quality and validation of the automation solution before it is released/deployed.
  • Create documentation for the automation solution.
  • Backup documentation and source code of the Automation solution, following Customer standards (SVN)
  • Continuous identification of areas for improvement.
  • Support the development, deployment, and support of benches at Customer locations in Troy, and off-site customer locations as needed

Mandatory Skills Description

  • Highly proven development experience in LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Highly proven Experience with programming languages (Python, C++, CAPL, etc.)
  • Proven experience with automotive communication protocols (CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN)
  • Proven experience with Ethernet, TCP/IP, and switches.
  • Experience with A2B & Analog Audio.
  • Experience with design and development of "Testing Solutions."
  • High degree of innovation and creativity.
  • High level of motivation and work ethic with an emphasis on practical, hands-on work.
  • Very good overall communication skills, goal-oriented mindset, and good interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills Description

  • Experience with Linux OS.

  • Experience with requirements engineering and design tools.
  • Automotive/ADAS experience would be an advantage
  • Ability to document comprehensively and concisely.
  • Ability to travel domestically as required, up to 30% for customer support.
