1. Lead ride & handling objective testing at the proving ground (test program execution, measurement/analysis, reporting)
2. Supervise vehicle instrumentation (sensors, DAQ setup) to ensure complete/accurate test instrumentation
3. Analyze test data & improve processes (ride/handling metrics; refine procedures; support proposals/quotations and sometimes K&C rig testing)
Must-have skills:
- Engineering degree (Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Mechatronics)
- 1–3 years vehicle testing experience; strong interest/knowledge in vehicle dynamics (or brakes preferred)
- Measurement technology + data acquisition systems experience
- Proficiency with NI Diadem (or similar) and MS Office
- Strong data analysis and reporting; clear verbal/written communication
- English & Spanish proficiency (required)

Job Description

As a pivotal member of the chassis testing team at Applus+ IDIADA, the Vehicle Dynamics Testing Engineer will primarily focus on testing of ride and handling in the proving ground, while also supporting Kinematics & Compliance (K&C) test rig activities when necessary.

Performing Technical Activities

You will lead technical activities related to ride and handling objective testing, ensuring meticulous measurement and analysis of the vehicle dynamics performance. This encompasses

Supervising Test Vehicle Instrumentation: overseeing the meticulous installation of sensors and the configuration of data acquisition devices, with a keen focus on complete vehicle testing.

Executing Objective Testing Programs: directing and overseeing test programs in accordance with project requirements, with particular emphasis on ride and handling manoeuvres.

Executing K&C Testing Programs: directing and overseeing test programs in accordance with project requirements.

Analyzing Test Data: conducting in-depth analysis of test data, with a specialized focus on ride and handling metrics, and presenting comprehensive reports to derive actionable project insights.

Process development and improvement: scrutinize existing testing procedures and methodologies in order to improve efficiency and quality. Propose new ideas to expand the current services in the area of chassis testing.

Support sales process

Collaborating closely with the Vehicle Dynamics Testing Manager, you will offer valuable support in drafting technical proposals and quotations.

Qualifications

Education

Possession of an Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive or Mechatronics.

Profile

Demonstrated experience of 1 to 3 years in vehicle testing, with a strong preference for expertise in vehicle dynamics or brakes. Experience in measurement technology and data acquisition systems. Familiarity with CAN communication equipment is an asset. Proficiency in NI Diadem or other data analysis tools and MS Office applications. Genuine enthusiasm for measurement data analysis, spanning from initial post-processing to the meticulous reporting of final results, especially pertaining to vehicle dynamics testing. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey findings and insights to customers. Dynamic, proactive, and self-motivated attitude, coupled with a willingness to engage in global projects as required.

Language Skills

Full working proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory. Proficiency in other languages, particularly German, is considered advantageous.
