**Role & seniority: ** Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse (RN); non-exempt; reports to Charge Nurse (clinical, RN-level).

**Stack/tools: ** Electronic patient/surgical scheduling database; phone/fax/email/copyer/printer; knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.

**Top 3 responsibilities: **

  • Maintain scheduling/tracking for surgical patients in a computer database.

  • Collect and review pre-admission testing and conduct phone assessments (medical/medication history, allergies).

  • Coordinate with schedulers, PCPs/specialists (e.g., cardiology/oncology), and anesthesia/surgeons to obtain required info and answer pre-op questions.

  • Must-have skills:

    • Active RN license; BCLS required.

    • Phone-based clinical interviewing; accurate charting and history collection.

    • Interprofessional communication with physicians and anesthesia; attention to allergies/medication history.

    • Ability to manage multiple assignments, organize work, and follow policies/procedures; professionalism and dependable attendance.

  • Nice-to-haves:

    • ACLS preferred.

    • BSN preferred.

    • Prior experience in ASC, PACU, ICU, Med-Surg, or Telemetry.

  • Location & work type: M–F, 8-hour shifts starting 7am or 8am; working in pre-op/ASC/PACU and clinical areas (EyeCare Partners).

JOB TITLE: Pre-Admission Testing Registered Nurse

DEPARTMENT: ASC

REPORTS TO: Charge Nurse

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Pay: $36-39, DOE This position is M-F, eight-hour shifts beginning at 7am or 8am. POSITION SUMMARY

Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors

  • Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a computer database for tracking surgical patients.

  • Receive appropriate communication from surgery schedulers to schedule each patient for surgery.

  • Obtain and review all pre-admission testing for the surgical patient.

  • Conduct a phone assessment of each surgical patient to obtain medical and medication history.

  • Communicate with primary care physicians, cardiologists, oncologists, etc. to obtain necessary information for appropriate medical evaluation preoperatively.

  • Communicate directly with the anesthesia staff and surgeons to ensure all questions regarding pre-operative patients are answered prior to surgery to ensure a smooth schedule.

  • Evaluate patients for allergies and set up allergy testing when appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/ REGISTRATIONS
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current RN License, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Must have at a minimum previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: ambulatory surgical center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors
  • Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States

The employee must be able to

  • Walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time

  • Occasionally be able to push up to an excess of 200 pounds
  • Occasionally be able to pull/ lift patients with the assistance of other personnel and or assistive devices, up to an excess of 400-500 pounds
  • Occasionally be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb

  • Works in well-lit and ventilated surroundings including pre-operative/ PACU areas, nurse's stations, procedure rooms, lounge, etc.
